The objective of the project is to achieve significant energy savings thorough implementation of the demand side measures, improve the reliability and quality of service for the population, improve sustainability of the district heating company’s operations through energy efficiency investments and operational improvements and achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
The Project will have a significant demonstration effect in the region serving as an example of the introduction of innovative energy efficiency solutions with high environmental benefits.
The Project is also aimed at improving energy efficiency of distribution and generation of heating energy. The Project will introduce the most effective DSM measures through installation of 268 IHSs to allow consumption-based metering and billing. The Project will also contribute to consumer awareness, stakeholder engagement and transparency, and will be an important component in the on-going policy dialogue with Ukrainian authorities, including the Regulator.
The E5P grant of EUR 4 million will be used for the installation of the IHSs equipped with heat meters.
