Warmer schools in Chișinǎu

Until recently, children at Spicușor Kindergarten in Chișinău were wearing coats in their classrooms. But now, with support from E5P donors and partners, the building has been upgraded with new windows, radiators and solar panels, cutting energy bills and creating a safe, comfortable place to learn.
On Friday 19 December, the transformation was marked with the unveiling of a mural on the kindergarten wall. Created by local artist Dmitri Potapov, the artwork includes the children’s own drawings and ideas.
“I wanted the children to be co-authors,” Dmitri explains. “Their lines are narrow, irregular, playful and something adults cannot recreate.”
The mural symbolises the way the support of E5P donors and partners can make better environments for children in Eastern Partnership countries to learn and thrive.
