Unfreezing Chișinău's heating infrastructure

Date : 25-04-2025

Winter in Moldova can be very cold – often as low as ten degrees below freezing. But its heating systems were built decades ago and are no longer fit for purpose – maintaining homes requires on average twice as much energy than it does in the European Union.

E5P is supporting renovation of the infrastructure in the capital Chisinau, making homes warmer and cheaper to heat.

Our €15 million grant – to be signed next month – forms part of a larger initiative to bring cleaner, more reliable heat to 400,000 people in Moldova’s capital.
