Resilience in Ternopil
Date : 28-07-2025
Russian drone and missile strikes here often damage industrial zones, and cut water and electricity supplies. But the city continues to build back greener and better.
An €8 million E5P grant – part of a €21 million package with the EBRD and the CIF Clean Technology Fund – is funding the construction of a biomass-fuelled combined heat and power plant. The upgrade will make Ternopil’s district heating system more efficient, reduce reliance on imported gas, and save over 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ a year.
The project is one of several EU-supported investments in the region. Last week, the EU Delegation to Ukraine hosted a media training event in Ternopil, giving journalists the chance to visit projects like ours and learn more about the EU’s long-term support for Ukraine’s recovery.
